Tap & Tandoor Portsmouth sits at the heart of Gunwharf Quays, right next door to The Alchemist and opposite Banana Tree and Giggling Squid — making it one of the waterfront's most popular spots for an evening out. The Portsmouth venue brings the award-winning Tap & Tandoor formula to the coast: craft beer on tap, Indian cocktails, homestyle curries and live sports in a buzzing, welcoming space.

Whether you're visiting the iconic Spinnaker Tower just steps away, exploring the world-famous Historic Dockyard — home to HMS Victory, HMS Warrior and the Mary Rose Museum — or arriving from the Isle of Wight Ferry at the nearby terminal, Tap & Tandoor is the perfect place to start or end your day on the Portsmouth waterfront.

Can I walk in without a reservation, or do I need to book?+
We welcome walk-ins whenever we have space, but we strongly recommend booking ahead — especially on Friday and Saturday evenings and around live sports events. Booking online takes less than two minutes and guarantees your table. You can also call us on 023 9381 3150 if you prefer.
How large a group can I book online?+
Our online booking system handles groups of up to 16 guests. For groups of 17 or more, please submit a group enquiry or call us on 023 9381 3150 and we'll arrange everything for you.
Do you do Sunday lunch?+
Yes! We put our own Tap & Tandoor twist on the classic Sunday lunch — think bold Indian flavours and sharing plates rather than the traditional roast. It's a brilliant way to spend a Sunday afternoon on the Portsmouth waterfront. Booking is essential; please reserve your table before 5pm on Saturday to guarantee your spot.
Do you offer private dining or hire the venue for events?+

Do you cater for dietary requirements — vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free?+
Absolutely. Our menu includes dedicated vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. Please mention any dietary requirements when booking or speak to your server on arrival.
Is Tap & Tandoor Halal?+
No — Tap & Tandoor is not a Halal restaurant. We serve alcohol and our meat is not Halal-certified. We do however have an extensive vegetarian and vegan menu if you'd like to dine with us.
Is the restaurant dog-friendly?+
Yes! Well-behaved dogs are welcome in the restaurant and we love having them. Please let us know when booking if you're bringing a dog and we'll do our best to accommodate you. For the comfort and safety of all our guests — including your four-legged friend — we kindly ask that you avoid visiting with dogs during peak hours (after 5pm), when the restaurant gets busier and livelier. Earlier in the day is a much more relaxed time for a dog-friendly visit!
Is there parking nearby and how do I get here?+
We're at Gunwharf Quays, Portsmouth PO1 3TZ — right on the waterfront. The Gunwharf Quays Shopping Centre car park is on site and is the most convenient option. Portsmouth Harbour station is a 10-minute walk along the waterfront. The Isle of Wight ferry terminal is also just a short stroll away.
